Principal's Message
Dear Sonora Elementary Families,
Welcome to Sonora Elementary School, home of the Eagles! On behalf of the Sonora staff, I'm so excited to welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year! The Sonora community has collectively demonstrated resilience, optimism, and ongoing support of our kids and each other during the last couple very challenging years.
As we prepare for this new school year, we are going to RISE AND SHINE!
Our staff will RISE together to commit 100% to our students' success, helping our school community thrive, and supporting one another. We hope that you will join us to RISE to the occasion and maintain high expectations! We will allow our students, school, and one another, to SHINE in our efforts and accomplishments and convey how Sonora SHINEs! It's time for us to get our hopes up, look up, and RISE AND SHINE!
At Sonora we choose to work collectively to support our students, families, and one another in providing a high quality and rigorous education. We also choose to create a learning environment that helps to maintain positive and respectful relationships, set and achieve goals, and show kindness and empathy towards one another.
We will continue to pride ourselves in our 2020 Distinguished School Award, our strong partnerships and showcases in the Arts, and our Six Pillars of Character traits.
Research identifies the strong correlation between school and home. This is critical in ensuring that each one of our children succeed. Every Monday students are encouraged to wear their school spirit wear and every Friday students can wear their classroom character shirts.
I value open communication with you and serve as a partner in your child's educational experience. If you need to contact or meet with me, please email me at mdoidge@nmusd.us, or call the office at 714-424-7955 and speak with Cindy Henthorn, my Administrative Assistant. She will be happy to arrange a time for us to speak on the phone, in person, or via Zoom.
It's my honor to work alongside you to support your child and let's RISE AND SHINE together.
Sonora Love,
Mrs. Mia Doidge
